Chapter 13: Cyberlanguage: Features And Implication

What it is and what is does?


Cyber language is a new language which applied in the internet communication system. It is not yet recorded in the traditional dictionaries as it is mainly used as well as created by the people on the internet. It is an abbreviation language. The language is often used as the cyber play including variations on abbreviations, emoticons, and smiley. Just take example of the abbreviations, 4GM is considered as forgive me and HCIT means how cool is that. Nowadays, these types of language are largely utilized by the internet user worldwide. Other than that, before the IT is introduced, the term like mouse is identified as animal but in this IT world, the name of a mouse is also apply with the mouse of a computer device or a pointer. On the other hand, people used emoticon to describe their feeling. The term of emoticon came from “emotion and Icon”. However, the use of cyber language may harm the mind of the student. The abbreviation language is relatively can effect on their communication and writing for a long time.

Scenario

Students nowadays often use the abbreviation form of words in their writing. It simply means that their mind has been poisoned by the cyberlanguage.
In our opinion, what can be done in order to prevent the situation from happen in the future?
